John has a strong background in design, nature and the environment. With a B.S. in Zoology and an MLA in Landscape Architecture, John began his own spiritual journey after having a profound experience while backpacking in Yosemite National Park. He heard an inner voice that said “This is not the real reality”, meaning, what we see and experience is only a part of our true selves. The real reality is that of spirit, embodied in nature, the environment and ourselves. Since then, John has been a student of metaphysics, Buddhism, Japanese garden design and Feng Shui. He published an eBook “How to Create a Spiritual Garden in Your Own Backyard”. This book synthesizes all the knowledge and personal experience over the years to guide other people on the spiritual path to discover how gardens can be a “portal to spirit”.
